At Home Humanitarian is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization focused on socially integrating and economically empowering refugees and other immigrants while building tolerance and understanding throughout their new communities. Our core work focuses on mentor matching, shared experiences, and partnerships.
Goals and Objectives
Help newcomers feel “At Home” in their new communities.
Provide local communities with opportunities to serve "At Home".
Guide newly arrived persons to becoming self-sufficient and preparing for education and careers.
Foster friendships, learning, compassion, understanding, and healing among all participants.
At Home Adventures
At Home Adventures is an access and diversity initiative that matches newcomers with local adventure enthusiasts to experience outdoor or cultural activities together. The program brings diverse cultures together for exploration, healing, and connection.
Our Team
Katherine Lowe, Founder and President, Board of Directors – Menlo Park, CA and Salt Lake City, UT. Founded At Home Humanitarian in 2016 to connect U.S. resettled refugees/immigrants to their new communities and vice versa. Has worked in operations and marketing in the public and private sectors. MPA candidate.
Benjamin Tingey, Treasurer, Board of Directors – Salt Lake City, UT. Founding board member. CPA who enjoys volunteering and getting to know others from different backgrounds. Lived internationally for 2 years on a service mission during college. Enjoys outdoor activities like hiking and mountain biking.
Jaime Hirsh, Project Manager, Board of Directors - Salt Lake City, UT. Local outdoor enthusiast dedicated to bringing diversity back into our shared outdoor spaces and increasing access for all types of humans. Skier. Hiker. Dog lover. AHH mentor.
Michele Ivins Halls, At Home Adventures Program Manager - North Salt Lake, UT. MPA, BA International Relations, adventures program designer and manager, promoting exposure and inclusion of newcomers to outdoor and indoor recreation and cultural experiences, local refugee and immigrant mentor, passionate about family and faith.
